The craftsmanship of every Melanie Georgacopoulos piece is of the upmost importance.
It is through the language of craftsmanship that Melanie is able to tell stories, push boundaries, reinvent, rework and surprise. Melanie strongly believes that it is thoughtful design and craft that gives value to a piece of jewellery.
Having trained in both classical jewellery making and sculpture, Melanie possesses a unique perspective on the materials and techniques she utilises in her designs. She recently won Gold for Lapidary & Carving at the Goldsmiths’ Crafts & Design Council Awards for her creative approach to craftsmanship, she is unafraid of doing things differently yet never willing to compromise on quality. Each Melanie Georgacopoulos collection requires different skills to bring to life, so she also leans on her trusted network of goldsmiths, experts in their field, to ensure every design is realised to its fullest.
A Symphony of Materials
Melanie’s first love was pearls, and after over a decade working with them she is still as enthralled as ever by their unique beauty and their capacity for reinvention. As her practice has expanded throughout the years she has begun exploring and using a variety of shells and other more classic gemstones too.
We source our pearls and gemstones depending on the requirements of the design but always ensuring the highest quality. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of our materials to ensure safe practices for our planet, marine environments and communities. Since 2020 we have worked exclusively with recycled gold. All diamonds in Melanie Georgacopoulos pieces adhere to the Kimberley Process which unites administrations, civil societies, and industry in reducing the flow of conflict diamonds around the world.
Techniques new and old
Many of our one-of-a-kind pieces are made exclusively by Melanie from initial sketch to completion. From traditional pearl stringing to experimental carving, we use a myriad of processes both in-house and through our trusted production partners to create every Melanie Georgacopoulos piece.
The intimate nature of our set up enables us to be extremely flexible should you require a different colour, length, scale or size. We are pleased to now offer a precise 3D-printed prototype service in-house for added peace of mind for any clients who are unsure of size or fit.
