About Pearls: A Series, Antwerp Edition – January 2022

The second artist in our About Pearls series is Katrien De Blauwer. Describing herself a ‘photographer without a camera’, Katrien collects and recycles pictures and photographs from old magazines and papers and uses collage to breathe new life into them. Often focusing on anonymous female figures, De Blauwer’s collages critique the stereotypical depictions of women in media and reveal her own complex feelings surrounding identity, sexuality, and the female body. For our About Pearls series Katrien has created a striking image which explores her interpretation of our newly released Diamond Hinge Bracelet.
