Goldsmiths’ Crafts & Design Council Awards 2023

Melanie was honoured to receive a Gold Award for Lapidary in the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards 2023 for her Diamond Fishbone Bangle. This piece was a real labour of love taking almost two years to complete. It features vertical panels of peacock mother of pearl layered in a fishbone pattern, which Melanie then hand carved into using her self developed ‘embedded technique’ giving the impression that two old mine cut diamonds are being spontaneously pushed into it.

The central aim of the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council is to promote excellence in the UK jewellery industry through its prestigious annual awards. You can see this piece in person during an exhibition of selected award winning work which will go first to the Birmingham Assay Office from 21st – 29th March and then on to London’s Goldsmiths’ Centre from 2nd May – 15th June 2023.
